What is a charter school?
A charter school is a public school that has been "chartered" for a specific reason. Northland Prep was chartered to provide an exceptional educational experience.
Is NPA accredited?
Yes. NPA is fully accredited by the North Central Association, the same organization that accredits Flagstaff Unified Schools.
How many students are there in the classes at NPA?
NPA has an overall student teacher ratio of 11 to 1.
What does it cost to send my child to NPA?
NPA is a public school. There is no tuition. There are some small fees for extra programs. These are similar to other public schools.
How does NPA rank with other Flagstaff public schools on standardized tests?
NPA consistently scores among the highest in Northern Arizona on standardized tests.
Does NPA have a sports program?
Yes. NPA is a full member of the AIAA. Current sports include boys and girls basketball, co-ed golf, co-ed cross country, co-ed track, co-ed soccer, baseball, and girls volleyball.
What upper division college prep courses does NPA offer?
Advanced Placement courses include Chemistry, US Government, US History, Biology, Language and Literature. Other higher level courses include Physics, Calculus, and Issues in Current Events, a senior seminar.
How is the music program at NPA?
Our Music Director has many years of experience both teaching and playing professionally. Our band, strings and choir programs are excellent.
Does the school have a dress code?
NPA students wear solid color polo shirts, school t-shirts and navy or khaki pants There are casual dress days as fund raiser for clubs. Students are held to a strict, conservative dress code even on casual dress days.
What is the drug and gang situation at NPA?
With a small school and the high teacher to student ratio, all students are well known by the staff. It is the staff's opinion that NPA has no gang problems and probably the lowest incidence of drug problems of any school in the city.
What is the discipline policy at NPA?
NPA uses a progressive discipline policy.
What kind of library does NPA have or anticipate getting in their new facility?
Currently we do not have a library.
What do students do for lunch? Is there a lunch room?
No. Most students bring their lunch and eat in the "commons."
What languages are available at NPA?
In addition to Latin in the 7th grade, NPA offers German, Spanish and French.
Why does NPA require Latin for all 7th graders?
It has been shown that students who have taken Latin score significantly higher in language skills on standardized tests.
How does my student get to and from NPA? He/she rides the bus now.
NPA does not have transportation for students. Families carpool, use public transportation, students ride bicycles and walk to and from our campus.
